Dominican Republic Wedding Photographer

I was fortunate enough to get to spend last week in beautiful Punta Cana, Dominican Republic to photograph the wedding of Corrine and Matt. I feel blessed that at times I'm able to travel and visit such amazing places. I'm also blessed to get to photograph such lovely couples who are in absolute love. I truly love what I do and what makes it even better are couples and bridal parties who "make" the pictures. Of course the photographer is who takes the photo and creates the finished piece but to be quite honest, when you have a party who is willing to do pretty much any of my ideas and go along for the ride so they can see what I was thinking... that is what makes the photo. It's the laid back bride, the funny groom, the hilarious wedding party and the cool family that make my job pretty much A-mazing!  Matt and Corrine were exactly that... awesome! They were fun, crazy, sweet, kind and in love. It was a pleasure to be a part of their day and to capture their special moments. Congrats to the both of them on a long and happy marriage!!

Dominican Republic Vacation

This past week I spent my time in Punta Cana, Domincan Republic. It was absolutely amazing and I enjoyed every single second of it. My only wish was that I could have stayed longer. :) The beach was gorgeous, the hotel was awesome and the scenery.. breath-taking. I was asked to shoot a wedding there and couldn't say no... NEVER! I ended up bringing my son and my mom and little brother went with as well. We all had a great time kayaking, swimming, tanning, drinking yummy drinks, watched awesome shows, met the sweetest and most kind people you could ever meet and realized you don't need much to be happy. I mean.. we knew that, but these people truly showed it. I would love to go back there again and do more off the resort that involved the lives of the Dominicans. What they taught us in that short amount of time was amazing. The kids were super friendly as well as super adorable. We had nothing bad to say about our trip to the Dominican Republic. It's a place that will hopefully be visited again.

P.S.. photos of the wedding will soon follow. :)

New website, new blog design, new post!

Well, as you can see, I redesigned my blog. I did this so that it would match my brand spankin new website that I absolutely LOVE!! I think it describes my work so much better and definitely represents myself more. I just felt it was time after 5 years to update things around here at Jessica Oatman Photography. :) So... here it is.

In the mean time, I went outside today in the pouring rain while my kids puddle stomped around and took some photos. I just love photos that are so natural and describe what children actually do. This is what mine do.
