Just a little bit of what we have been up to over the last two months or so!! Enjoy... we are on vacation now. 

Surf Camp Virginia Beach

I haven't been very good at posting the happenings around here and trust me, there are many happenings. We are about to be go on a mini trek across the U.S and there will be tons of photos no doubt. It's that time of year when Montana goes back to St. Jude for his check ups and visits. We look forward to this and being able to see his friends and doctors. After this, we go on our family vacation and we are SUPER excited!! 16 states in about 2.5 weeks. :)

However, at the begining of this month Montana and my brother Adam did a surf camp with WRV down in Virginia Beach. Each morning we were out of the house at 6:30am to drive the hour there and deal with horrible morning traffic. That wasn't fun but the camp was. They had a good time. Adam stood several times and Montana tried. He was more hestitant and didn't quite like coming back in from the water. The surf would usually catch his board and send him tumbling... his little light weight body attached to an 8 foot board didn't do him any justice but he still had fun. With more practice, I'm sure he will eventually get it.

Richmond Wedding Photography : Ashley and Joel

It's been a very interesting few weeks to say the least. Most of it has been a non stop whirl wind of activity which has been good, hectic, busy, fun and a blur of a time. I shot the wedding for Ashley and Joel about two weeks ago in Richmond during all of this chaoticness. It rained and rained that morning and then stopped right when I arrived up there. It was the day following the tropical storm when I was supposed to do the Tough Mudder that ended up being cancelled due to the course being pretty much ruined. It was also during the time that my sister in-law flew in to join us for tough mudder. We were bummed to say the least. Then about 4 days ago, we had some more bad storms that whipped through, knocked down trees and caused us to be without power yet again. Like I said, it's been an exciting time.   But during all this, the wedding that took place was AMAZING!!! The sun came out, the venue was lovely, guests flew in from Alaska and the bride and groom were stunning. It was a wedding that I had looked forward to for months. When the day arrived it was everything I expected and more. The location, the decorations, the colors, the weather and the atmosphere where all breath taking. I'm so happy to have been apart of Ashley and Joels big day and to have been there to capture all their special moments. They are such a unique, loving and caring couple who are such a joy to be around. The stories they share are great and I'm sure they will have many more great ones as they begin their journey together. Congrats Ashley and Joel!!!

Yorktown Wedding Photography : Brittany and Brandon

Last Sunday I shot a wedding for a bride I have known for quite some time. It was such a special wedding and a very meanigful one for me considering her story and mine. She lost her brother 6 months after I lost mine and since that time I have shot her high school senior photos, her engagement session and now her wedding. She also grew up with my twin brothers and they were all homeschooled together. Crazy how life just continues right before your eyes and then before you know it, they are all grown and on their own. I'm sure that is how I will feel with my own children but you also see it when you photograph babies who then go to elementary school and then they are graduating. It really does go fast! 

The entire day was calling for rain and many people far and close prayed for a clear day without a single rain drop. Well, it didn't rain until everyone was leaving and what a blessing it was for this bride and groom. Brittany and Brandon had a perfect day surrounded by family and friends who were there to help celebrate their special day! I feel blessed to have been able to capture the love they have for one another on such an important day! Congrats to you both and good luck with all your adventures coming up! Hugs.
