Williamsburg, VA Engagement Session: Brittany & Brandon

I have not been very good at keeping up with the blog the past few months.... oh my. It's been a zoo around here and I'm pretty much trying to keep afloat. Lots has been happening and I find myself staying up later and later to get things done, which by the way is not the norm for me. I'd much rather go to bed early and get up earlier than the other way around. :) But anyway, I'm going to try to post some more images of just life and the happenings... AKA: Try!

This past Friday I met with Brittany and Brandon at a cute little park here in town that is on the water. They will be getting married next month, so you will be seeing those soon, and I'm super excited!! You may have seen some photos of them in the fall that we had done as well... adorable. They are officially engaged and moving forward fast with the wedding. Sometimes that's the way to go. I've actually known Brittany for many years and it's crazy to think that I will be photographing her sweet wedding. It's going to be just lovely and I just can't wait!!

Richmond, VA Engagement Session

Ashley and Joel have some of the coolest little stories from their dating time frame as well as life. It was almost a year ago that I sat and talked with Ashley about her wedding, how they met and a little about her life. Right from the get go, I thought she was rather neat and turns out we actually had quite a bit in common. She shared stories of living by herself in Alaska in an airstream, traveling, camping, carving wood, and eventually... falling in love with Joel.  Her and Joel have known each other since they were in the 5th grade, separated ways, lived life a little and finally returned to fall in love and plan a wedding. They are simply adorable and life has a funny way of bringing people back together.

On Saturday I met up with the two of them over by Belle Island. That place is kind of like a second home for my family. We like to go up there alot and watch Chris kayak on the James and the kids will play on the rocks. It's just such a neat place. So when they changed locations to this place, I was kinda excited. I've never shot an engagement session up there but I sure can say that it's an awesome location to do so. The weather was a tad chilly but it could always be worse, right? At least there was no rain and it was warmer that 30 degrees. :) I had fun walking around and getting to know them as a couple a little bit more. I'm totally excited to be shooting their BIG day!!! It sounds like it's goint to be one heck of an amazing wedding!!!! Pictures will follow in early June. :)

Yorktown, Virginia Engagement Session : Krista & Josh

Krista and Josh, oh where to begin? They are cute, and sweet and kind and so perfect for each other. They both have a passion for the Lord and when they look at each other you can see the love that radiates from their smiles. Josh is smitten over her and I can totally see why. Krista is beyond gorgeous and her personality is just as beautiful inside as she looks on the outside.  Josh will be deploying soon, so they are getting married next month in New York and will be having a small wedding. Please be sure to keep him in your prayers as well as all of our military men and women who fight to keep us safe and free.

All the photos below were shot in Yorktown on a chilly day but Krista was brave. She toughed it out by wearing a sleeveless and strapless dress....kudos to her! She did amazing though. You would never guess she was shivering or had goose bumps. :)

Yorktown, Virginia Engagement Session

Last weekend I shot an engagement session in Yorktown for the couple who won the session through Macaroni Kids. I can honestly say that for the first time in the 6 years of doing photography, the wind was unbearable. I mean, I've had wind and we usually can work around it and we do. However, this was bone chilling wind that was not easy to work with. Poor Danielle.... her hair was basically standing up on end because of the strenght of it. So, we took our session by areas that were blocked and hidden. By the end of the session, the wind was manageable and we were able to use it to our advantage. It was a super cute session with the groom to be being a big history buff. No better place to shoot the session other than the Yorktown battlefields. Congrats to the two of you on your engagment and happy wedding planning in the future.

Williamsburg Winery Engagement Session : Christine and Geoff

It's been a crazy week. It's late right now, well late for me anyway. One A.M is late for me.. really late. I am not a night person but rather an early morning person. If it came down to staying up late and working or getting up at the crack of dawn and working, I pick the crack of dawn. There have been days that I get up at 3 am to try to finish stuff. It just comes easier. I guess it's all those years of swimming. However, I was really wanting to get this session up for Christine and Geoff before the end of the week. They have been super patient while I've been editing the past 14 sessions. Needless to say, I made it to theirs and it's time to post about how great they are. Christine was in my sisters wedding and we also worked together at Water Country. Seriously, the world really does come full circle. This has been happening way too much lately. Someone knows someone who you never thought would have known that someone. ha.. crazy.  Anyway, this session was shot at the Williamsburg Winery. I love it there. The light is amazing and the property is gorgeous of course. You can't go wrong shooting at the vineyards. When they decided on this location I knew they would so rock it. Check out how cute they are. I'm really looking forward to their wedding. It's going to be amazing!!
