So two weekends ago I shot a last minute engagement session. It was very spur of the moment and I'm actually going to be shooting their wedding in the spring... super excited! However, they don't live here and it was their last day in town, so I told them I could do it. Needless to say, it ended up raining that day, being chilly and very windy. Those are not the weather conditions you would hope to have for a session on the water. She didn't complain, was willing to make it work and that was a huge plus. :) The session turned out great, the rain eventually died down and we even managed to grab a few pics on Yorktown Battlefieds during the government shutdown. woo hoo!! That's what I call rockin a session! You can be sure to see their wedding coming up sometime in April. They are the sweetest couple and I look forward to their special day.

Yorktown Wedding Photography : Brittany and Brandon
Last Sunday I shot a wedding for a bride I have known for quite some time. It was such a special wedding and a very meanigful one for me considering her story and mine. She lost her brother 6 months after I lost mine and since that time I have shot her high school senior photos, her engagement session and now her wedding. She also grew up with my twin brothers and they were all homeschooled together. Crazy how life just continues right before your eyes and then before you know it, they are all grown and on their own. I'm sure that is how I will feel with my own children but you also see it when you photograph babies who then go to elementary school and then they are graduating. It really does go fast!
The entire day was calling for rain and many people far and close prayed for a clear day without a single rain drop. Well, it didn't rain until everyone was leaving and what a blessing it was for this bride and groom. Brittany and Brandon had a perfect day surrounded by family and friends who were there to help celebrate their special day! I feel blessed to have been able to capture the love they have for one another on such an important day! Congrats to you both and good luck with all your adventures coming up! Hugs.

Yorktown, Virginia Engagement Session : Krista & Josh
Krista and Josh, oh where to begin? They are cute, and sweet and kind and so perfect for each other. They both have a passion for the Lord and when they look at each other you can see the love that radiates from their smiles. Josh is smitten over her and I can totally see why. Krista is beyond gorgeous and her personality is just as beautiful inside as she looks on the outside. Josh will be deploying soon, so they are getting married next month in New York and will be having a small wedding. Please be sure to keep him in your prayers as well as all of our military men and women who fight to keep us safe and free.
All the photos below were shot in Yorktown on a chilly day but Krista was brave. She toughed it out by wearing a sleeveless and strapless dress....kudos to her! She did amazing though. You would never guess she was shivering or had goose bumps. :)

Yorktown, Virginia Engagement Session
Last weekend I shot an engagement session in Yorktown for the couple who won the session through Macaroni Kids. I can honestly say that for the first time in the 6 years of doing photography, the wind was unbearable. I mean, I've had wind and we usually can work around it and we do. However, this was bone chilling wind that was not easy to work with. Poor Danielle.... her hair was basically standing up on end because of the strenght of it. So, we took our session by areas that were blocked and hidden. By the end of the session, the wind was manageable and we were able to use it to our advantage. It was a super cute session with the groom to be being a big history buff. No better place to shoot the session other than the Yorktown battlefields. Congrats to the two of you on your engagment and happy wedding planning in the future.
