My kids love to paint but then again, what kids don't. I like to do projects that involve taking lots of time to paint because they will usually paint until there is a hole in their paper. :( Then we start over and it all happens all over again. Needless to say... watercolor isn't my favorite with them. haha. So, I came up with this quick and easy project and they loved it!! It had glitter, glue, confetti, and paint. Perfect for elementary age children. Plus, it looks all festive! They were proud!

Valentine paintings
Last week, I stepped away from the blog for a few days and did some other things. I've been spending more time creating, sewing, gluing and upkeeping my little bow shop. I've also spent some time doing art projects with the kids in honor of Valentine's Day.

Penguin Art
I'm almost certain that most of you have heard of pinterest. If you haven't, you should jump on the bandwagon and join. That website has come in handy on more than one occasion. With me homeschooling on top of everything else, I just don't always have the time to think up art projects or other ideas for teaching so I tend to use it alot. It's a neat website for organizing your ideas and collecting thoughts. The only thing I try to do is make sure I "use" it. I don't want to spend countless hours pinning things if I'm not actually going to use it to my advantage.
Yesterday we did a little craft with the kids. All kids just love to get a nifty pair of scissors in their hands, especially my second child. She'll cut up anything and everything if you let her, which means my scissors are out of reach. She did cut her own hair last year and luckily it wasn't anything we couldn't live with. :) Before we began, I read the kids a penguin book which they loved called Learning to Fly. Then I let them try their hand at cutting circles to create their very own penguin. There are two things kids love doing when doing arts and crafts. That would be cutting and gluing. My third child is glue happy. Needless to say, they were super proud of their penguins and hung them proudly for daddy to see when he got home from work. If you are looking for the link, it can be found HERE. I know in the past I said I would show you my homeschool/art center and I promise I will get to that... hopefully by the beginning of next week. Have a great Wednesday!!

Free color your own Valentine
Yup, I know. It's January and I have Valentine's Day stuff up on the blog. Well, to be honest, I like to look ahead. I like to know what is coming, what I have to do with the kids and plan it all in advance. There has been way too many times that I have not been ready for the holiday and before I knew it, it was over and done. Boo on me. I'm not doing that this year. Christmas was a blast. I had things planned, we did crafts, we baked cookies and I plan on carrying that out all the way through this year as well.
As you know, I majored in art and as my dad would say, I have a degree in coloring. Call it what you want but I spent five and half years working on that graphic design degree and I earned every little bit of it. haha. Now my kids color... all the time!!! I also have an obsession with all things cupcakes. They are the cutest little things and I draw lots of them as well as people drawing them for me. You can never have enough cupcakes, they make the world a better place.
Well, I did this little doodle of a drawing for their Valentine's Day printable and thought I would share it with you all. Like I said, we color alot and I'm sure they will color more of them. So, all you family members... this is what you are getting, don't look. :)
Drag this image below to your desktop, print as an 8x10 and wala.. you are ready to go. Hope you have a nice Valentine's Day when it arrives. :)
